In continuing their war path across Kentucky, republicans in the supermajority have once again turned their sites on cities like Lexington and Louisville. HB 18 is in direct retaliation against local governments that prohibit source-of-income discrimination in housing and SB 25 forbids local governments from adopting or enforcing ordinances that require landlords to participate in the Section 8 program. It is clear that some members of the state legislature care less about our housing crisis across the Commonwealth and instead want to trap people in poverty and support blatant discrimination. I grew up in the projects of Beecher Terrace and I am currently a renter. I know that people deserve access to affordable and fair housing. I’ll fight for it as your State Senator!
